Hi Robyn,

Want to double check we’ve got your info correct?

The goal: “I’m going to be looking for a new job in the near future and I need a more professional appearance,” says Robyn Siegal, a 28-year old child-care provider.

The response: I love it–I almost don’t recognize myself in the mirror. It’s fair to say that this experience has changed my life. This makeover gives me the confidence I need to embark on my new goals.

Thanks,
xxxxx

Hi xxxxx-

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you yet. My last name is spelled Siegel. The first quote is fine. I'm not sure how I feel about the response, however. Would you like me to suggest some altered wording?

I understand you're working with a deadline.

Thanks,
Robyn

Sure take a stab but keep it in the superlative ballpark.

I love it. Several friends almost didn't recognize me. This was a very positive experience. This makeover has been very energizing which has been helpful to embark on my new goals.

will this work for you?

I'll pass it along but up to the editor, thanks!

check pages 88-89 to see what they ended up with.... can you guess?

The goal "I need a more professional appearance becasue I'm going to be changing careers in the near future," says Robyn Siegel, a 28-year-old child-care provider.

AFTER "I love it. I almost don't recognize myself in the mirror!"

POST-MAKEOVER "It's fair to say that this experience has changed my life," says Robyn. "This makeover has given me the confidence I need as I pursue my new goals."

and this is what i really wrote to the author, not just the fact-checker-

Hi Robyn,

How are you? How is your hair? can you tell me your favorte part about the makeover?

also, is it ok if I say you only used a cleanser --nothing else--in yoru skincare routine?

thx

Hi Kathy- I'm great. How are you? My hair is good. I've worn it both straight and curly since, and I like both. It seems like it's fairly high maintenance regardless, it's just a matter of "which maintenance" I'm up for, since they each required such different things. The color is starting to fade a bit, but it's still really shiny. I think I'll try to do the rinse again once it's totally gone.

I'm actually in LA for my brother's wedding and right now I'm thinking I'll wear my hair just straight and down! It still feels special and different for me, so it's great for a special occasion.

For my daily skin routine, I always wear moisturizer w SPF!!

The make-over was much easier and more laid-back than I anticipated; I was a bit nervous. But, it was fun and felt very nice to be taken care of and a bit pampered. Overall, it seems like there wasn't too much permanent that ended up being done to me, which I was surprised by, I guess. I think I was skewed a bit by the media's tendancy to increasingly extreme make-overs. I learned some great hair techniques, so that was the most helpful. I didn't really get any make-up advice. I love the MD skincare products!! But I didn't really get any new hair or make-up product directives. And same for clothes or the overall putting the whole look together thing. The photo shoot was great, I did love seeing how it all comes together in the end. That's when you really get sold on trying changes.

Best,
Robyn

thanks for getitng back to me --especially at such a crazy time. I may just say that your skincare routine was non-exsistant before the makeover. hope that is ok.

have a wonderful wknd. glad you like your look and had a nice time at the shoot.

My last exchange with Kathy is below. John Frieda gave me shampoo and conditioner, which is very nice. However, they colored my hair almost black, and they gave me product for light brown hair. Thought it was funny. I'm surprised they didn't try to "sell" me on a full product line, which is kinda nice, but also, left me (and my hair) a bit hangin' to dry.... (in terms of being able to maintain the new look, at least)

Also, not sure why Kathy feels the need to make stuff up. Maybe she can't come up with an angle about me that works for her. Whatevs.

Looking forward to seeing the issue! And again, thank you. I had a very good time.
